Steve Haney, President and owner of Provident Lending, is known as The Mortgage Doctor and has been a member of the Colorado Springs community for most of his life.
For many years he has been in the top 10% of his career field in the nation. An expert at reverse mortgages, purchases, refinances, and debt consolidation loans, his passion right now is for reverse mortgages, which can help people over 62 maintain a good lifestyle.
Steve Haney has often been described as a true professional and a man of integrity, who always does the right things for the right reasons. For many years he has been in the top 10% of his career field in the nation.
A lot of people think that Steve is in the business of just loaning money, but he doesn’t see it that way. He is helping to create the largest single debt that most people will ever have in their lives and he feels a professional and moral obligation to help them manage that debt.
He wants to make sure that the loans that his borrowers choose fits into their short and long term investment goals. As a result he takes a financial planning approach to the mortgage business.
Steve earned his degree at Brigham Young University, has been happily married for over 41 years, and has four adult sons, two of whom have served in the military.
This contributes to his strong sense of patriotism. He believes strongly that America can be strengthened by returning to core Christian values and by strengthening families, and applies these values to running the Provident Lending team.
He loves to fish, hunt, camp, work with the Boy Scouts of America and in his spare time loves to teach and play competitive paintball. His big event for the last 14 years is a fly fishing trip into the northern Canadian wilderness.

Herman Combs, Mortgage Planner
Herman Combs has been in the mortgage industry since 2002, and has been with Provident Lending for the last 2 years, helping grow and run the traditional side of Mr. Haney’s business. At the peak of his career, he owned a mortgage company in Arizona with over 30 employees.
He’s not your typical mortgage professional because he approaches mortgages as a financial tool that can be leveraged to work with all aspects of your financial portfolio. This includes real estate planning, financial planning, estate planning and tax planning. Whether it’s liability management or utilizing equity to pay off debt to increase monthly cash flow, he has the up-front strategies to help guide your mortgage planning and the expertise on the backend with loan programs and guidelines that separate him from other loan officers.
On a personal level, he’s been married for over 15 years and has 4 beautiful children (11, 8, 3 & 2 years old). He’s committed to his church, and has served on the church board the last 3 years. He has been coaching his son’s soccer team the last 2 years and says, “My main focus in life is to be a loving and present husband and father.” As a family they enjoy camping, fishing, skiing, traveling and attending church.
